Q&A

Q: Can I book anytime or just a one or two lessons?

A: No, classes are booked in blocks of 6 weeks for adults, 3/4 for kids classes depending on term times and holidays, have a set start and finish date. You cannot book just one class, except for a taster day.

Q: I want to I cancel my booking, can I have a refund?

A: We have a no refund policy, however we can issue a coupon valid for 3 months, this can be used for workshops, taster days or classes

Q: I have missed a class, can I get a refund?

A: No, missing a class is non refundable and classes cannot be brought forward into the next block if you plan to continue.
If a class is cancelled by the teacher, a coupon will be issued for the value of the class, this can be used for your next booking. If you wish not to book the following block, you can book a drop in session Friday evenings. It is your sole responsibility to make sure that you arrange a catchup lesson with me within the course you have booked. If you do not, you will lose the missed classes

Q: Is there any other charge I must pay?

A: For Adult classes only I charge a fee of £1 per 100g of weight per finished piece, this covers costs of expensive materials like glazes, slips, clay, my time checking all the work is safe to fire, loading and unloading the kiln and electricity consumed during two firing: the first one is bisque at at 1000 degrees and the second one is at 1220 degrees.

Q: Can I take my work home straight away after a lesson or a taster?

A: No, there is a process, your work will have to completely dry before the first firing, it will have to be glazed and re fired again. Drying your work can take up to two weeks, depending on the weather and humidity, and each firing lasts 48 hours. Work will be ready to collect within two to four weeks depending on the workload, I need to fill the kiln so that electricity is not wasted for only a few items.
An email will be sent when your work is ready to collect, please pay for the firing before collection via bank transfer.

Q: I am an artist and I want to complete a project using this medium, I have never used clay before, can I book a block and work on my project straight away?

A: No. The ceramic process is complex, long and has some limitations. You must complete a beginners course in order to fully understand what can and cannot be achieved using this medium.
